How much an online store costs.

What makes up the cost of a Shopify store: what you pay the platform, what you pay whoever builds it and what people tend to forget.

By Alessandra De Luca · Updated

In short

A Shopify online store has two kinds of cost: the platform, meaning subscription and fees on sales, and whoever builds it. With Aleryc the build starts at €1,162, plus €76 a month of store care: you pay the Shopify subscription yourself, directly to Shopify.

What you pay the platform.

  • The subscription: it depends on the plan, and up-to-date prices are on Shopify’s website.
  • Fees: a share of every card payment, which changes with the plan.
  • Theme and apps: paid apps come on top of the subscription.

Shopify’s pricing page shows the rates for the country you open it from, and they can change: check them there before you decide.

What you pay the people who build it.

The price depends mainly on:

  • How many products need uploading, and who uploads them.
  • How custom the design is: an adapted theme costs less than pages built from scratch.
  • Payments and shipping: who sets them up and with which connections.
  • Product photos and copy, often the longest part.

The costs people forget.

  • The domain, every year.
  • Legal pages: terms of sale, withdrawal, privacy and cookies.
  • Care over time: new products, seasons, promotions.
  • Advertising: a new store needs promoting.

Your store with Aleryc.

Our Shopify online store comes in three packages:

  • Store Basic: from €1,162 plus €76 a month, up to 20 products uploaded by us.
  • Store Standard, the one we recommend for most stores: from €2,438 plus €104 a month, up to 100 products, with custom sections, simple animations, a contact form, a booking calendar and a newsletter sign-up.
  • Store Premium: from €4,615 plus €153 a month, up to 150 products, with immersive custom pages and full SEO, AEO and GEO optimisation included, with 2 months of Growth on Google and AI.

We create the design and upload the catalogue with the products you send us; payments, shipping and the related connections are up to you. The Shopify account is in your name and the revenue goes straight to you. The domain and the privacy and cookie policies are separate, priced in tiers by type; features that require an external paid service are a separate item in the quote, at your expense. These are “starting from” prices under Italian tax rules, with no VAT to add and the stamp duty included. If you’re based in another European Union country (we only work with clients who have a VAT number), any taxes or mandatory costs for that country are shown in your written quote, before you sign. Any package can be customised by adding the services you want, at extra cost: from then on it becomes a custom quote starting from there. You’ll find all our prices on one page.

FAQ

The questions we get asked most.

No: you create the Shopify account and pay the subscription yourself, directly to Shopify, and add us as collaborators. That way the account, orders and revenue stay yours.

You do: we create the design and upload the catalogue with the products you send us; payments, shipping and the related connections are up to you alone.

It depends on what you need: if you don’t sell online, a polished brochure website is often the right choice. We explain it in our guide Brochure website or online store?
